Rajgir Malmas Mela 2026

Malmas Mela 2026 is scheduled to be organised at Rajgir in Nalanda district from 17/05/2026 to 15/06/2026. In the Hindu calendar, every three years, there is a difference of one month between the solar year and the lunar year, which is adjusted for by the Purushottam month. It is also called Adhik Maas or Malmas. It is believed that 33 koti gods and goddesses reside in Rajgir during Malmas, which is why the city of Rajgir is considered very sacred during Malmas or Adhimas. According to Vayu Purana, one day’s bath in the Saraswati River during Malmas is equal to the merit of bathing in the Ganga River for the whole year. In this mela, devotees from every corner of the country and state come to Rajgir during Malmas and perform puja and take bath in the ponds and streams here. During the Malmas Mela, saints also take a royal bath. For the Malmas Mela, which will be held from May 17, 2026, to June 15, 2026, the dates for the royal bath are May 27, 2026, May 31, 2026, and June 11, 2026.
